The 6ft-high bronze statue, sculpted in India by Jaydeep Apte, depicts a Sikh soldier and is mounted on a Yorkshire stone plinth. The memorial, unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, was put in place by the Sikh Soldier Organisation and funded by public donations.
