Friends of Greenhead Park volunteers and students from Greenhead College have got together to create a striking mural in the arbour by the Greenhead Park lake. The project, led by artist and FoGP member Helen Williamson, has transformed the central section of the three-arched arbour into an attractive and inviting space.
Everyone involved gave their time for free and paint was kindly donated by Huddersfield Decorators Merchants. Volunteers celebrated the completion of the artwork on Wednesday 5 June with Simon Lett, Principal of Greenhead College, and ward councillor Carole Pattison.
Friends of Greenhead Park Chair, Glenis Ireland said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped for their hard work in creating this beautiful mural inspired by an oak tree growing nearby. We hope eventually to extend the artwork into the side arches of the arbour, and look forward to continuing our partnership with our near neighbours Greenhead College.”
