As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.

Tuesday 2 October

7pm Friends of Greenhead Park committee meeting in the Greenhead Park pavilion.

Wednesday 3 October

12.30pm – 1.30pm Friends of Greenhead Park History Hour – Four Local Suffragettes. An illustrated talk by David Cockman marking the centenary of the 1918 Act that gave the first voting rights to women.  David will tell the story of four suffragettes from the Holme and Colne Valleys who took part in the struggle to achieve votes for women.    History Hour sessions are held in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts).  Free – no need to book.

Monday 29 October

10am – 12.15pm Join an orienteering session in the park organised by Kirklees Youth Alliance – part of a programme of half term activities for 11 to 16 year olds. There’ll be a variety of orienteering races and games, including Vampire Orienteering! It’s free but you need to book your place in advance.

Wednesday 31 October

5pm – 7pm Do you dare to take a ride with Mr Spook on the Halloween Ghost Train? Then come on down to the miniature railway – dressed in your spookiest outfit –  for the annual Halloween Special (weather permitting). Tickets cost just £1.30 each or £3.50 for a family ticket (up to 5 riders).
