As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.
Tuesday 3 October
7pm Friends of Greenhead Park committee meeting in the Greenhead Park pavilion.
Wednesday 4 October
12.30pm – 1.30pm Friends of Greenhead Park History Hour – Meeting, Celebrating, Remembering: European exiles in and around Greenhead Park. Most European exiles who came to Huddersfield in the aftermath of World War II established their social clubs near the town centre, just a stone’s throw away from Greenhead Park. The wide open spaces of the Park were perfect for meetings, galas, commemoration of war sacrifices and even protest – something the exiles would not be free to do in the Soviet-controlled homeland. In an illustrated talk, Frank Grombir will focus on the Polish and Ukrainian communities, looking at how they came together, their rich cultural calendar and the legacy they left behind. History Hour sessions are held in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts). Free – no need to book.
Saturday 7 October
1pm – 2.30pm Greenhead Park Art Club for kids aged 5 to 10 years (must be accompanied by an adult) in the Greenhead Park Community Room (next to the cafe by the tennis courts).
