As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.
Saturday 26 May – Sunday 3 June
1pm – 8pm (7pm Sunday) Come to the Beach – the popular beach-themed fun fair – returns to Greenhead Park for the Spring Bank half term holiday. Entrance is by wristband only at £7.99 per session, or £2.50 for parents or guardians not riding but accompanying children. Weekday sessions are 1pm – 5pm & 4pm – 8pm, Saturdays 1pm – 4pm, 3pm – 6pm & 5pm – 8pm, and Sundays 1pm – 4pm & 3pm – 7pm. Once inside all rides and the beach are free.
Tuesday 5 June
7pm Friends of Greenhead Park committee meeting in the Greenhead Park pavilion.
Wednesday 6 June
12.30pm – 1.30pm The Pleasure Gardens at Hope Bank – Honley’s Paradise Lost, an illustrated talk by David Cockman on the delights of a long lost pleasure ground in the Holme Valley. Created in the late 19th century, Hope Bank was a fairground, boating lake and much more, and provided entertainment for thousands of local people for over half a century. History Hour sessions are held in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts). Free – no need to book.
Saturday 9 June
2pm Time to get down to the Greenhead Park bandstand for some Sounds of Summer – the Friends of Greenhead Park 2018 season of summer afternoon band concerts. First up are young musicians from Musica Batley Wind Band and Musica Holme Valley Big Band & Intermediate Wind Band. Limited seating is available but you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
Sunday 17 June
2pm Back again on the Greenhead Park bandstand, is the ever-popular Hade Edge Band. This performance is part of a programme of concerts organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park. Limited seating is available and you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
Thursday 21 June – Saturday 23 June
7pm For three nights only Greenhead Park plays host to Circus Tsuica – an exciting band of international acrobats and musicians – who will be performing their crazy, colourful and chaotic show, Now or Never, in a big top on the event field. The national tour of Now or Never is part of a nationwide celebration for Circus 250, the anniversary of the birth of the modern-day circus – and Greenhead Park is the only Yorkshire venue! Friday 22 June
11am – 2pm Learning Disability Week Picnic in the Park (weather permitting). Bring a picnic and enjoy stalls and entertainment. More information from Sarah Roberts 07710 020235.
Saturday 23 June
2pm Enjoy the sound of music in the great outdoors with Musica Mirfield’s Senior & Intermediate Wind Bands. They will be performing on the Greenhead Park bandstand as part of the Sounds of Summer programme of concerts organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park. Limited seating is available and you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
Saturday 30 June
2pm Another free concert on the bandstand, this time featuring Golcar Band and Golcar Training Band. Limited seating is available but you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. There will be a collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
