As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.
Saturday 27 May – Sunday 4 June
1pm – 8pm (7pm Sunday) The beach-themed funfair returns for the Spring Bank half term holiday. As previously, there will be a charge for entry to the site for a timed session, inclusive of all rides – you’ll find all the details here.
Sunday 4 June
10.30am – 4pm Huddersfield Croquet Club will be celebrating National Croquet Day with an Open Day on the lower bowling green when anyone can come along and have a go. Croquet is a game for all ages and abilities – you can have fun and gentle exercise, but it’s also good for those “competitive types”! All you need are flat soled shoes; the Club will provide all the equipment, helping hands and simple instructions, so that you can get an idea of the game. Monday 5 June
12.30pm – 2.30pm The first session of a free four week Nature in You course in Greenhead Park organised by the S2R Great Outdoors Project. Nature in You provides a way to have fun, explore and be in the moment, for greater health and happiness. It encourages the natural you to emerge through connecting with nature using mindfulness techniques, drawing, foraging, cooking and more. 7pm Friends of Greenhead Park committee meeting in the Greenhead Park pavilion.
Wednesday 7 June
12.30pm – 1.30pm Friends of Greenhead Park History Hour – an illustrated talk by local historian Brian Haigh on John Edward Shaw, a noted C19th photographer whose Huddersfield studio was at Burlington House on Park Drive. History Hour sessions are held in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts). Free – no need to book.
Sunday 11 June
1pm – 2.30pm Greenhead Park Art Club for kids aged 5 to 10 years (must be accompanied by an adult) in the Greenhead Park Community Room (next to the cafe by the tennis courts). 2pm Golcar Training Band will kick off the Friends of Greenhead Park 2017 season of summer afternoon concerts on the bandstand – with a little help from senior members of the band. Limited seating is available but you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.

2pm Another free concert on the bandstand, this time featuring Deadbeat Brass – who describe themselves as the lovechild of funk, jazz, hip-hop with a dash of pop, all purposefully knitted together with a New Orleans brass band twist! Limited seating is available but you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. There will be a collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.

12noon – 9pm Everyone is invited to Hands Off HRI‘s Party in the Park. Come along to this free family fun day – dance your socks off, have a beer, meet friends, eat food, shop at the stalls! You’ll find details of the line ups and other attractions here. As well as being a thank you to the public of Huddersfield for their support for the campaign to save Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, the event aims to raise awareness and money for the legal fight against the proposed closure.
