As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.

Saturday 2 July

1pm – 7pm Friends of Greenhead Park and Musica Kirklees invite you to a feast of musical entertainment on the bandstand for the whole family. Performances from Musica Kirklees Holme Valley, Shelley, Batley, Mirfield & Colne Valley groups include swing and big bands, African drumming, massed voices and more. Bring your own seating – and a picnic if you like – and enjoy a summer afternoon of music. Free entry – collection for the Musica Kirklees Gift of Music sponsorship fund.

Saturday 9 July & Sunday 10 July

From 11am  Inflatable Kidz World Fun Weekend with inflatables and rides aimed at 2 to 10 year olds. Payment is by token for inflatable attractions and cash or card for rides. Closes 7.30pm on Sunday 10 July.

Sunday 10 July

2pm – 4pm  The Friends of Greenhead Park are delighted to welcome Sundown Swing back to the bandstand following a wonderful afternoon here last summer. They’ll be playing a fabulous selection of well known swing music from several eras – and there’s plenty of room for dancing around the bandstand! Make sure to come along with your chair, rug, and maybe even a picnic! It’s free but a bucket collection for the Friends of Greenhead Park will be taken during the performance.

Tuesday 12 July

12.30pm The Queen’s Baton Relay – a journey which brings together communities across the Commonwealth during the build up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games – is visiting Huddersfield as it passes through Yorkshire & Humber. Look out for more details of  activities and celebrations in the park.

Sunday 17 July

12noon – 5pm The Mela is back in Greenhead Park! Sangam Mela is a free family fun day with live music, jewellery, fashion & food stalls, face painting, rides and more. Hosted by Radio Sangam and Communities Together, with support from Kirklees Council,  Sangam Mela marks the start of the month long Sangam Festival celebrating South Asian arts, culture and heritage.

Wednesday 27 July

10am – 12 noon  Informal Ukulele session in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts).  Visitors are welcome to come in and listen – or join in if you have a ukulele!

12noon – 4pm Celebrate the wonder of nature and the pleasure of being outdoors on a free Kirklees Libraries Books and Bugs Storytrail. Drop in to the bandstand between 12noon and 4pm to take part in this fun family picture trail and bug hunt, inspired by Tim Hopgood’s My Big Book of Outdoors. Recommended for families with children up to age 8

Saturday 30 July

11am – 2.30pm The popular Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Colour Run comes to Greenhead Park for the first time this year. Take on an easy 3.5km walk, jog or run while being showered in clouds of coloured powder – and help raise funds for a great cause! The run starts at 12.30pm, followed by fun events, food etc. Advance tickets are £17 for adults, £9 for children (3-16 years) and £48 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children). Under 3s go free. Tickets on the day are £23 adult, £12 child, £60 family.
