As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.

7pm Friends of Greenhead Park committee meeting in the Greenhead Park pavilion.
Wednesday 3 July
12.20pm – 1.30pm This month’s Friends of Greenhead Park History Hour talk takes a look at some of Huddersfield’s iconic buildings. Chris Marsden, author of the recently published ‘Huddersfield in 50 Buildings’ will share stories of some of the town centre’s significant buildings featured in his book. History Hour sessions are held in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts). Free – no need to book.
Thursday 4 July
7.30pm Huddersfield 5k Park Series organised by Cannonball Events offers runners the chance of racing competitively in the park every Thursday evening in July. The races can be entered individually or you can enter all 4 races in the series. There are discounts for pre-registration on-line or you can register on the day from 5.30pm to 7.15pm. Minimum age 11 years.
Sunday 7 July
2pm Golcar Senior and Training Bands will be entertaining visitors to the park this Sunday – as part of the Friends of Greenhead Park 2019 season of summer music on the bandstand. There’ll be some seats available for early birds, or bring your own folding chairs or rugs – and maybe a picnic too! Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
Thursday 11 July
1pm – 3pm S2R Summer Walk – a gentle and relaxing walk around Greenhead Park. Meet at S2R Create Space, Brook Street, Huddersfield HD1 1EB at 1pm.
Sunday 14 July
2pm This Sunday’s music in the great outdoors features the ever-popular Hade Edge Band. As usual there’ll be some seating available or bring your own folding chairs or rugs. Free – collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.

Tuesday 23 July
2pm – 3pm Children of all ages are invited to try orienteering with five different courses around the park to have a go at. Register at the table between the railway and the playground – minimum donation £2 per child. This event is a fundraiser for the Children of Chernobyl Lifeline Link (CCLL) which brings children from the Chernobyl area to Britain for a summer break, and children who are visiting this year will be joining in. 11am – 10.30pm Wannasee Festival is back in the park again this year – with live tributes to bands including Queen, T Rex, Madness, Robbie Williams, Elvis and the Bee Gees. Sunday 28 July
2pm 2pm Sundown Swing bring the summer season of free concerts on the bandstand to a grand finale. This Huddersfield-based band will have your feet tapping with their popular swing music from the 1920s to 1950s. Come early to get a seat or you are welcome to bring your own folding chairs or rugs. There will be a collection in aid of the Friends of Greenhead Park.
