There are plenty of regular weekly activities in the park, either free or at a small charge, so why not come down and join in! Contact us if you have ideas for other activities you’d like to see.

Mondays

1pm – 2pm Buggymovers session for new mums who want to get back in shape – all you need is a baby in a buggy and comfortable trainers or walking shoes. Cost: £4.50 per mum and buggy (dads and grandparents welcome too!). Meet at the cafe opposite the tennis courts.  Contact Jackie on 07950 870950 for more details. Tuesdays

Petanque1pm Join Huddersfield Petanque Club for a petanque (boules) session on the terrain by the Marsh gates. Newcomers and visitors welcome to come along and find out more about the game. The Club will put on taster days for groups by arrangement too.

Wednesdays

11am Breast Cancer Support walking group meets for a walk in the park every other Wednesday at the Trinity Street entrance near the conservatory. Call Maria on 07821 670438 for dates and more details.

11am – 12noon Buggymovers fitness session – as on Mondays.

1.30pm – 2.30pm Friends of Greenhead Park Drop-in session in the Greenhead Park pavilion by the bowling greens.

Every little helps

From 1.30pm Friends of Greenhead Park weekly gardening session  – weather permitting.

Join this friendly group who help park staff with weeding, planting and other seasonal tasks. Meet at the Pavilion by the bowling greens. Tools provided – come dressed for gardening!

Thursdays

11am Join a regular Walking for Health walk in the park starting at the Trinity Street gates near the conservatory.  These free Health Walks are suitable for all ages and abilities, even if you have not walked regularly for some time. They are led by a trained walk leader and are a great way to meet new people and enjoy a chat while doing something that can benefit your health. After the walk, free tea and coffee is provided at Holy Trinity Church.

11am – 12.30pm Gentle yoga class for less able people with ME, other neurological or  similar conditions in the Greenhead Park Community Room (next to the cafe by the tennis courts). Cost £6 – mats and other yoga equipment are provided.

1pm (6pm May to August) Huddersfield Petanque Club session on the terrain by the Marsh gates. Club membership costs £18 a year. You can find more details at Huddersfield Petanque.

Fridays

10am -11.30am Nordic walking – a fun and social activity for walkers of all ages which uses over 90% of the body’s muscles. Meet at the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts). Training is provided for people new to Nordic walking, and you can now borrow walking poles free of charge. Saturdays

9am Free weekly 5km timed run, open to everyone who has registered with the organisers, Parkrun. You can find out more and register at parkrun.

Enjoying a ride on the miniature railway

1.30pm – 4pm The Greenhead Park miniature railway aims to open on Saturday afternoons from March to October  – weather and volunteers permitting. Fares are £1.50 a ride, and £4 for a family (up to 5 people). If you would like to help to keep the trains running, please contact Huddersfield Society of Model Engineers.

Sundays

9am Huddersfield Junior Parkrun, a 2k weekly run especially for 4-14 year olds. Like the amazingly popular Saturday Parkrun, it’s free but you need to register with parkrun. You only need to register once, so juniors who already run on Saturdays don’t need to register again.
