August 2019

As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.

Thursday 1 August

11am – 3pm Try sports for free at Huddersfield Town Foundation’s Flame 2019 – now an annual tradition to promote inclusive sport, physical activity and improve health and wellbeing, which began as part of the Olympic and Paralympic celebrations back in 2012. Activities are for everyone; both able-bodied and people with a disability! There will be something for all ages, abilities and interests throughout the afternoon including cricket, cycling, boccia and wheelchair sports! There’s no need to pre-book, just turn up and register on the day!

Thursday 22 August

10.30am ‘Bug Hunts and Worm Whispering’ storywalk – start with a Superworm story session at Huddersfield Library then set off on a walk to the park to search for bugs and use special magnifiers to see them up close and personal. Aimed at families with under 8s, the storywalks are a great way for youngsters to get outdoors, stay healthy and enjoy books and reading at the same time. It’s free to join in but booking is essential as numbers are limited.
