As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Events are free (unless otherwise specified) and all are welcome to join in. Outdoor events are weather permitting.
Thursday 9 August
10.30am Are you a menace like Dennis? A peril like Beryl? Or a superhero like Spiderman? This summer Kirklees Libraries staff will be heading out of the library to explore the outdoors with cartoon character themed storywalks – and Greenhead Park is one of their venues. Aimed at families with under 8s, the storywalks are a great way for youngsters to get outdoors, stay healthy and enjoy books and reading at the same time. Fancy dress encouraged! It’s free to join in but booking is essential as numbers are limited.
7pm – 8.30pm Discover Huddersfield walk exploring the history of Greenhead Park. Join David Griffiths for an evening stroll around the Park looking at its obvious and some hidden features and hearing how the Park came to be established and how it has evolved. Cost £3 per person payable on the night – no need to book in advance.
Saturday 11 August
12.30pm – 5pm Kirklees Summer Flower, Vegetable & Handicraft Show in the marquee on the main field. This free annual event is brought to you by Huddersfield Allotments & Gardens Federation and Kirklees Council. The show is open for everyone to participate, so if you are a veg or flower grower, cake baker, chutney maker, handicrafter, or brewer of fine wines then this is the place to show off your talents. The show schedule has all the information you need about the show, including details of the open classes in flower, vegetables & handicrafts. For more information contact the show secretary Brian Grainger on 01484 423987.

The Friends of Greenhead Park will also be serving tea and cakes in the marquee.
