Welcome

UPDATE ON PARK FACILITIES

The paddling pool remains closed.

The miniature railway is now running on Saturday afternoons (subject to weather and staffing).

The public toilets are open – please use them responsibly.

The Cafe in the Park (by the tennis courts) is fully open with both outdoor and indoor seating. You can check their Facebook page for any updates.

The Park cafe at the back of the conservatory is open with new breakfast & lunch menus. Indoor & outdoor seating available.

Please note that fires and BBQs are not allowed in the park at any time. A Public Space Protection Order is in force and anyone lighting a fire or BBQ can be fined up to £150.

Events and regular weekly activities are starting to happen. See our events page for details. The community room next to the Cafe in the Park is now available again for use by groups. For more information, or to book, e-mail parks@kirklees.gov.uk.

Welcome to the website of the Friends of Greenhead Park.

We are an independent voluntary group that works with Kirklees council and others to ensure that our park is safe, attractive and well used. This website tells you more about the Friends and park facilities and brings you the latest news on what’s happening in the park as well as details of events and activities.

NEW: We’ve recently added a page on Children’s activities where you can download our brand new Explore, Discover & Play activity sheet. You can also get a copy at the cafes for just 50p.

If you care about Greenhead Park and would like to be part of its future, why not join us?

Drop in and see us

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEvery Wednesday we hold a drop-in session in the park from 1.30 pm to 2.30pm. You’ll find us in the Pavilion by the bowling greens. This bright modern building with its eco-friendly green roof provides a much-needed base for both the Friends and the Greenhead Park Bowling Club and was opened in October 2012.

Anyone is welcome to call in for a cup of tea and a chat and we’ll do our best to answer any queries on park management, activities, park history and so on. We can also tell you more about the work of the Friends and how to get involved.

Keep in touch

If you’d like occasional updates on the work of the Friends and events and activities in the Park, why not join our e-mail update list.  Just contact us putting E-mail update in the message box. We will not share your details with anyone else and you can unsubscribe at any time if you no longer want to hear from us.

You can now follow us on Twitter, and Instagram, and there’s a Greenhead Park Facebook page too.
